Hello everyone, I trust all is well with you and your loved ones. I need to update you following the latest announcements from our Government regarding the relaxing of some of the restrictions which have been in place since March this year.
The current guidance document from HM Government for restaurants, pubs, bars, and takeaway services, dated 23rd June 2020, is 43 pages long. The Management Committee are currently meeting every week to assess the ongoing situation in the best interests of the Club and its members and on how we can safely re-open the bar. We have taken the very tough decision that the bar will not be opening on 4th July, this being the date given recently by Government only providing all safety and distancing measures can be strictly observed and adhered to.
Covid-19 must be regarded still being a great danger to us all, particularly as even though it appears to be subsiding for now, the disease is carried by seemingly fit people and can be passed particularly to those in the “at risk” categories who would have much more difficulty in combating the infection. The safety of our members, customers and staff is our priority. We are looking forward to seeing everyone just as soon as possible and in line with most pubs and clubs we are working through the current government guidelines for the re-opening. Once we have been able to complete all necessary checks and introduce robust safety measures we will then be able to let you know when we will be re-opening the bar which we feel we could do on 11th July with very limited access to the Clubhouse building. If we can do this there will be no seating, standing or drinking inside. The bar will dispense drinks to one customer at a time from a single orderly queue. Later, next week we will confirm the position, as well as the bar opening times.
I realise all this is poor news for this coming weekend, but I hope to see you all soon, hopefully watching our teams playing a game of cricket.
