The weather continued to shine for us at Oulton in the Leeds and Wetherby league game! What a glorious morning for Cricket.
We played our first ever game as a newly formed under 9s section at Oulton at the start of the season. For those who played they will remember how cold and wet it was. Deservedly the weather was very different today with some great cricket played by both sides including great support from all the parents on both sides.
Maxwell captained the team today and won the toss opting to field first. Before the game we spoke about the importance of our positioning and protecting the boundaries when the opposition was hitting off the tee. The team did an excellent job and this was probably the most improvement we took away from the game.
We had 11 wickets in total today with Harry, Marcus, Arthur, Louis and Maxwell all getting one or more each. A special call out to Henry for his 3 wickets of which he took 2 in his first over! Excellent work overall.
Joe & Marcus started our batting session with a total of 40 runs between them. Harry, Arthur, Maxwell and William contributed another 32 followed by an excellent 34 between Henry and Louis! As a team they also did a great job protecting their wicket which is something we have tried working on in Training
Final score was Oulton 197 Carlton 281. A great team performance played in good spirits by both sides. A special mention to Oulton for the hospitality! Oulton had a first timer out today which was great to see. The most important thing is that we get all the juniors out there, make it fun and to keep them interested in the game.
